A good friend of ours, Julie Smit who lives at Eftalou, writes a very entertaining weekly newsletter about her experiences of living on the island. She has very kindly allowed us to use these on Lesvosisland.com. Julie translates the newsletter from her native Dutch and Jeff then 'tweaks' the result into more normal English usage, while hopefully retaining the feel of the original. read more...

About Us
We first visited Lesvos in the summer of 1987. It was the first time we had ever been to Greece and the first time we had taken our then young children on a foreign holiday. We stayed at the Sea Horse Hotel in Molyvos harbour. We immediately loved Greece and Lesvos in particular.
In the years following 1987 we tried many other places in Greece, all of which had their own charm, then in 1995 we decided to return to Lesvos. Since then we returned every year and made many friends, both locals and other Europeans who had also come to love the place. In 1998 our daughter Naomi moved to the island to live. In the autumn of 2001 we packed up our 3 British cats and headed off to join her.
