Lesvos has many interesting museums scattered around the island and of course in the main town of Mytilene

Archaeological Museum - Mytilene

The archaeological museum is spread between 2 buildings near the centre of Mytilene. It has a fine collection of antiquities from ancient Greek times up to Roman times.

Theofilos Museum - Mytilene

The Theophilos museum was built in 1964 in the suburb of Varia, about 4 kilometres from the centre of Mytilini, and houses 86 works by the Lesvos folk artist.

Teriade Museum - Mytilene

Next door to the Theofilos museum is the Teriade museum. It houses lithographs, engravings, woodblock prints and watercolours by the likes of Miró, Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Le Corbusier, Léger, Roualt and Villon. These were commissioned by Teriade, an art critic and publisher, who originally came from Mytilene.
